Conference Venue

The conference will be held on the main campus of the University of York, in the Spring Lane/Exhibition Hall complex, where there will also be the opportunity for exhibitors to have stands throughout the whole of the conference. 

The campus is well-served by a short bus ride from York city-centre/train station, or a pleasant walk (~25 minutes).

Getting from Central York to the University

The University of York campus is located about 2 miles southeast of the railway station.

• If coming directly from the train station, the bus stops are located directly outside the station main entrance. Look for Bus Stop RJ. Board either the First York Number 66 or Number 67 bus. Both routes run daily, highly frequent services directly from the station onto the university campus, stopping at both Campus West (where the conference is held – alight at the Library bus stop) and Campus East. Journey time is 15-20 minutes. They operate by a contactless tap-on/tap-off system using your credit/debit card.
• From the centre of town, the University bus routes run by First bus, U1 (to and from Merchantgate) and U2 (to and from the train station), run from the centre of town and are very reliable. They operate by a contactless tap-on/tap-off systems using your credit/debit card.
• A taxi/Uber to campus typically costs around £10 depending on traffic, and is a 10-15 minute ride from the centre of York. A reliable local taxi form is Streamline Taxis.
• Walking from the centre of town to the campus takes about 20-30 minutes, and is a pleasant, albeit slightly uphill, walk.
• Car parking on campus is more limited and it costs ~£8 per day. More details can be found here

Getting to York

York is one of the most well-connected historic cities in the UK.

Arriving from Major UK Airports and Train Stations

• From Manchester Airport (MAN): This a very convenient airport for reaching York. TransPennine Express runs direct, hourly trains from the airport terminal station straight to York Railway Station. The journey takes just under 2 hours. Depending on traffic, a direct taxi takes about 1.5 hours and is best pre-booked.
• From London Heathrow (LHR): Take the London Underground (Piccadilly Line or Elizabeth line) or the Heathrow Express train to central London and then connect to London King’s Cross Station. From there, catch a direct London North Eastern Railway (LNER) train to York. The train journey from King’s Cross to York is very fast, taking just 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours.
• From Gatwick Airport: The Gatwick Express takes you to London Victoria, and then connect to King’s Cross Station. Thameslink is a direct train to St Pancras International, which is situated right next to King’s Cross Station (5 minutes walk).
• From Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA): The closest airport geographically. Take the Flyer A1 bus from the airport to Leeds Railway Station, then catch a frequent direct train to York (a 20-35 minute rail journey). Total travel time is around 1 hour 15 minutes.
• Eurostar: Delivers you to London St Pancras which is 5 minutes walks away from King’s Cross, from where you can get the LNER train to York.
• Driving: Travel by the UK motorway network from, for example, London Heathrow (about 5 hours) or Manchester (2 hours). Both routes can be very traffic dependent of course. There is a branch of Enterprise car rentals close to the train station.
